AutoVu License Plate Recognition for Security and ITS

Secure entries and exits of facilities, get audit trails, identify wanted vehicles at your gates, on a street or a highway. Or use vehicle data to better manage traffic. The list is endless. AutoVu license plate recognition does it all.

You can strategically mount AutoVu cameras above traffic lanes, at entrances or exits, at toll booths and other locations. AutoVu automatically collects license plates, compares them against selected databases and alerts you of vehicles of interest.

Use AutoVu as a stand-alone solution or get a fully integrated LPR system with access control and video surveillance for a unified security platform. It’s all designed to make your job easier.

Benefits

Unsurpassed Accuracy

AutoVu has some of the highest accuracy rates in the industry when it comes to license plate reads. You can rely on the AutoVu solution to capture vehicles within the camera’s field of view. Thanks to AutoVu’s Fuzzy Matching feature, you can ensure that license plates are correctly identified. You won’t miss a beat with AutoVu.

IP Connectivity

Having an IP-ready solution means you get real-time monitoring and identification of vehicles. You don’t have to wait to find out if a wanted vehicle is approaching your building or city. Data is wirelessly transferred over an IP network so you can take immediate action if a vehicle of interest is spotted.

User-Friendly

As part of Genetec’s unified security platform, the Security Center, AutoVu is very user-friendly. Use graphical maps to monitor hits and read locations. Click on a hit to display an image of the license plate, a color image of the vehicle as well as the date, time and location. And use the easy search function to enable quick investigations.

Easy to Install and Configure

Installing AutoVu is easy. Once the AutoVu Sharp cameras are up, you need minimal adjustments and configuration to get your system working. Your databases of wanted vehicles can be uploaded daily or automatically on a pre-set basis. It’s a simple three-step process: install you cameras, configure your system and upload your list.

Applications

Wanted Vehicle Identification

You need to know when warranted felons, stolen vehicles, amber alerts, black-listed vehicles, etc., are nearing your city. With AutoVu, one or multiple lists of wanted vehicles can be tracked. If a plate read matches a wanted vehicle record, AutoVu will alert you with an audible alarm. AutoVu will also display a color image of the identified vehicle, its license plate, and the categories of interest. Then, you can take immediate action.

Vehicle Audit Trail

You can keep track of vehicles coming and going from your property. Simply install AutoVu Sharp cameras at the entrance and exit points of your site. You can then use AutoVu to capture and store each vehicle’s license plate. Later, you can use AutoVu to search through data, including color images of each vehicle and its license plate. When unified with Omnicast video surveillance within the Security Center, you will get correlated video footage of the moment the plate was captured.

Automated Access Control

Use AutoVu to automate permitted access to your premises. As a vehicle approaches an entrance or exit of a site, AutoVu will capture the vehicle plate. In an instant, AutoVu will then compare it against a list of permitted vehicles and either automatically open a gate or garage door or simply deny access and alert the security personnel.

Traffic Management

Managing infrastructure effectively depends on information. AutoVu can provide this data to highway and transport officials. With strategically placed AutoVu Sharp cameras, the advanced license plate recognition system is capable of offering valuable data for traffic analysis.

Bus and Taxi Lane Enforcement

Get an automated tool to enforce lane restrictions. Put AutoVu Sharp cameras above bus and taxi lanes. If AutoVu captures the plate of a vehicle that is not permitted to be in a bus or taxi lane, then the system will send the infraction data to a third-party ticket management system. An infraction can be sent directly to the vehicle’s registered owner.

Hardware

The AutoVu Sharp is the IP-based license plate recognition camera. This rugged LPR device precisely deciphers license plate numbers with some of the highest accuracy rates in the industry. The AutoVu Sharp is also portable so you can easily move it from vehicle to vehicle.

The AutoVu Sharp LPR camera conducts processing on the edge. This means all the processing and analytics are done inside the unit itself, making the solution compact and easy to install. This license plate recognition camera captures license plates up to 140MPH (225km/h).

Features

Advanced Data-Mining – Conduct searches of vehicles based on factors such as date and time, complete or partial license plate numbers, one or more specific geographic areas, or type of hit. Or, search by the other data associated with the hotlists such as VIN, make, model or year of the vehicle of interest. You can filter the results by date and time and geographic areas.

Consolidated Reporting – Generate performance reports per LPR unit or for all LPR units. This provides data such as the number of license plate reads, the category and number of hits or reasons for non-enforcing a hit. You can even print all this information to use as evidence in on-going investigations.

International Plate Reading Support – The AutoVu system can accommodate many different license plate shapes and formats. This device meets unsurpassed accuracy, regardless of the license plate style.

Integrated Video Surveillance – With the unified security platform, the Security Center, you can monitor live video feeds from a new or existing Omnicast video surveillance system along with LPR reads. You will get alerts of flagged vehicles from the AutoVu system. You can review video associated with LPR reads or hits from the same user-friendly interface.

Automatic Event and Alarms – Get automated alarms or events from the AutoVu system when a black-listed, wanted, or stolen vehicle is detected. That means you only have to respond to events that are deemed urgent.

Wildcard Hotlists – Use only partial plate numbers to create a wildcard hotlist database. This is particularly useful when a witness cannot remember the complete license plate number of a vehicle associated with a crime.

Third-Party System Integration – Integrate other software applications to fit with existing business processes with an advanced SDK. You can adapt the solution to your needs such as in traffic studies or gated access control applications. AutoVu also comes with an XML plugin so you can easily share information between systems without investing the efforts of a full integration.

Fuzzy Matching The AutoVu system uses a fuzzy matching algorithm to compensate for possible errors in the license plate read, including misread, added or removed characters. This increases the probability of positively matching the plate against a database.
